How do human resource consulting services work (hourly, retainer, per project?)
Alternative HR customizes our service plan for each client. We don’t expect anyone to pay for something they don’t need. Because we like to keep things simple, our client agreement is very short. To that end, there are generally 3 ways we do business.
Retainer: For only $10 per employee per month, we offer unlimited consulting by phone or email for you and your employees. This plan also includes mandated poster updates, free job postings on our site & job aggregators, and any HR forms you may need. In addition to the peace of mind you will have at such a reasonable cost, you will also get a discounted hourly rate for any other services while on the retainer plan.
Hourly: Well, we call it hourly, but really our services are billed in 15 minutes increments, because there is no one hour minimum. We invoice bi-monthly.
Project based: A few of our services can be offered for a flat, project based rate. Our HR Audit is $250. We can also give you a flat or not to exceed rates for a handbook update, FMLA Management, criminal background checks, compensation surveys and/ or training sessions.

Can AHR update our current handbook or must we use their template?
Yes, we are happy to review and update your current handbook and/ or procedure manual, if that is your preference. We also have individual policy templates that can be edited and added to make your handbook more complete.
How can AHR help us with recruitment?
As with any of the services we provide, there are options. We can simply post your job openings and forward the resumes to you. If you need more assistance, we can help with as little or as much as you would like. Alternative HR can screen candidates, conduct interviews, check references, complete criminal background checks and/ or arrange for pre-employment testing, all on an hourly or per test basis.
